![]() ![]() ![]() The other option that is popular is the small isolated builds interconnected by a train network, sometimes called a towns base, very UPS efficent but as each build is set up and optimised they become set and forget so this style of base can become very clinical because it eventually reduces to mearly supplying it with ore or plates from mining outposts.īelt bases can be a mind melting to manage and gets exponentally more complicated the bigger you go and that is certainly true of my 1600/min Red belt base which took a month to perfect in 0.15 and my upgraded 3200/min 2x red belts of science is still a work in progress since before 0.16 came out.īelts got a huge boost in 0.16 with the belt optimisations but are still not nearly as good as bots but having said that of all the bases I built I had the most fun with my belt base despite it running at 17-25 UPS in 0.15. I know a lot of poeple complain about bot charging and there are mods but this is a fundamental game mechanic you must design around because it is part of the challange. One of the worst combinations I have build was the huge blob robot network type base where plate was unloaded at the bottom and the blob smelted it and crafted it all the way up to the science packs, this style does not scale well and runs into delivery shortfalls and charging issues the bigger it gets. ![]() I have build both bot and belt megabases and both are very fun in their own unique way. I have a few thoughts that can be expanded upon that may be useful to poeple also embarking on building megabases. ![]()
